17,360 tonnes of flood garbage removed from Srinagar

In its special sanitation drive after the recent devastating floods, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has removed 17,360 tonnes of garbage from the city, officials said here Sunday.
SMC officials said that for the cleaning of Srinagar city, the corporation has pressed 5,000 men and 200 machines into service which are operating round-the-clock.
As per SMC, it also lifted 1,459 carcasses of animals and disposed them off. It used 44,000 litres of disinfectants in different flood-affected areas. Besides, 72 dewatering stations were also made operational.
