Bangladesh Navy chief, Vice Admiral M. Farid Habib on Friday visited Santinketan - founded by Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore in West Bengal's Birbhum district - and said he was "overwhelmed" at the opportunity to go around the historic place.

"My mental condition is such that I cannot talk much now. I am overwhelmed. I am spellbound.

"Everybody in Bangladesh dreams to visit Santiniketan, which is steeped with the memory of poet Rabindranath Tagore. I got the opportunity. I am very happy," he said.

Accompanied by his wife, Vice Admiral Habib went around Rabindra Bhavana - Institute of Tagore Studies and Research) - as also the Upasana Griha (prayer room), besides several departments of the Visva Bharati University housed in the Santiniketan premises.

Tagore holds the unique distinction of having penned the national anthems of two countries - India and Bangladesh.
