Ghosal, Joshana enter squah semis

Top seeds Saurav Ghosal and Joshana Chinappa, both from Tamil Nadu, led the men's and women's singles fields into the semi-finals with straightforward victories in the 61st National squash championships, here Wednesday.

Reigning national champion Ghosal ousted Maharashtra's Vrishab Kotian 11-3, 11-3, 11-8, while Joshana had it easy against Rajasthan's Nandika in winning 11-2, 11-4, 11-4.

The results (quarter-finals):

Men's singles: 1-Saurav Ghosal (TN) bt Vrishab Kotian (Mah) 11-3 11-3 11-8; .3-Ravi Dixit (TN) bt Gaurav Nandrajog (Delhi) 11-9 15-13 11-9; 4-Mahesh Mangaonkar (Mah) bt Sandeep Jangra (Services) 11-9 11-2 11-5; 2-Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu (TN) bt Vikas Jangra (Services) 11-2, 11-4, 11-9.

 

Women's singles: 1-Joshana Chinappa (TN) bt Nandika (Raj) 11-2 11-4 11-4; 3-Janet Vidhi (Delhi) bt Tarunima (Raj) 11-6 11-2 11-8; 4-Sachika Ingale (Delhi) bt Jannat Duhan (Chd) 11-2 11-4 11-3; 2-Aparajitha Balamurukan (TN) bt Neha Kumari (Bihar) 11-0 11-0 11-1.
