Frenchman Jean Todt, the only candidate, has been unanimously re-elected president of motorsport's world governing body, the FIA.

Britain's David Ward withdrew from the race last month after failing to secure enough support to be nominated, reports Xinhua.

It will be the second term for the 67-year-old Todt, who won the election four years ago by 135 votes to 49 against his rival Finn Ari Vatenen.

Before becoming the president of the FIA, Todt had been the motorsport manager with Peugeot in world rallying before being appointed chief executive officer of Ferrari from 2004 to 2008.
