The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta (ombudsman) police on Monday conducted searches at the residence of a state government clerk and detected assets disproportionate to his known income, including two houses and three cars.

The searches at the residence of Rakesh Dubey, a clerk in Patan tehsil or sub-district office, yielded evidence of ownership of two houses, three cars and a motorcycle, Lokayukta inspector Manoj Gupta told IANS.

"The assets are prima facie disproportionate to Dubey's known sources of income. We are investigating how he came to acquire them," Gupta said.

Dubey has a monthly salary of Rs.22,000. He was earlier posted in the district courts.

The Lokayukta acted on a complaint against him.
