The entry of Rahul Gandhi's sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, into active politics is an acceptance of the Congress President's "failure", the BJP said, adding that it will not have any impact on the ruling party.
"It was expected. To promote dynasty is what Congress is all about. They consider family as the party while BJP considers party as the family.
"Her entry to active politics means the Congress has accepted that Rahul Gandhi has failed," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told reporters.
His remarks came soon after Rahul Gandhi appointed his sister as the party's General Secretary in-charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
"Her appointment also proves that the Congress tries to find every solution within the family. She has campaigned for the party in Uttar Pradesh earlier too, and the country has seen its results.
"The Congress is on the verge of being wiped out in the state," he added.
Patra said her campaign would not impact the BJP's fortunes.
"It is clear that the election battle has turned into one between the 'kaamdar' and the 'naamdar'.
"They (the Congress) are naamdar and they have only their names but we have the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to show off. We will fight on his achievements," he said.
The BJP leader said the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party have already rejected Rahul Gandhi by not offering him a place in their alliance.
"Even in Kolkata rally of Mamataji (Chief Minister Banerjee), they didn't accept the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
"With the appointment of Priyanka Gandhi, they have accepted that Rahul Gandhi is not able to perform. Like Rahul, she too will be a failure," Patra said.
