Relief for kin of two Odisha men killed in Chhattisgarh

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday announced a compensation of Rs.2 lakh each for the families of two men from the state who were killed by Maoists in Chhattisgarh Saturday, the chief minister's office here said.

Daily wagers Prahlad Majhi and Chandrasekhar Majhi, who were killed in the Maoist attack on a Congress convoy, belonged to Bamuni village in Nabrangpur district, about 600 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, a statement said.

The two, who had gone to Chhattisgarh a month ago to work, were travelling in a truck in the Bastar region when they were caught in Maoists firing on the Congress convoy, it said.
