Telugu Desam Party member C.M. Ramesh was on Wednesday suspended from Rajya Sabha for disrupting proceedings over the issue of special status to Andhra Pradesh.

Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P. J. Kurien suspended Ramesh after he did not heed repeated calls to return to his seat.

Soon after Motion of Thanks on President's address was passed by the house, Ramesh, along with two other TDP members, rushed towards Chairman's podium raising slogans "we want justice".

The action came after two brief adjournments of the house as Ramesh didn't leave the house despite being named by Kurien.

"I have named you. If you have any respect for the parliamentary democracy, you should leave the house. Its a shame. If he is standing here, I can not continue with the proceedings," Kurien said.

This came as Trinamool Congress' Derek O'Brien raised the question on the member's presence in the house despite being named.

"Why they are in house? Where are the marshals?" he asked.

Kurien than adjourned the house for 10 minutes.

When the house reassembled, Ramesh along with two other TDP members were again on their feet demanding justice over special package to Andhra Pradesh.

"I don't want unruly scenes by enforcing...," Kurien said and then adjourned the house for the day.
