Three killed in Abu Dhabi apartment fire

Abu Dhabi, May 8 (IANS/WAM) Three people were killed and eight injured Tuesday when a fire engulfed a third floor apartment of a building here.

Following an emergency call at 4.20 p.m., firefighting squads rushed to the nine-storey building and battled the blaze which moved to an adjacent apartment in the building before it could be put under control, said Captain Abdullah Al Tamimi, head of public relations at Abu Dhabi Civil Defence.

The cause of the fire could not be immediately established.
