A woman working as a peon at a government primary school was shot dead in Ghaziabad on Monday, police said.

Sujata, 36, was working as a peon at the government primary school in Jagatpuri area of Modi Nagar.

Two motorcycle-riding men shot her from behind when she was going to her school at 9 a.m. on Monday.

Police said Sujata was working in a compensatory job after her husband Sanjiv, who also worked in the school, died. Sujata had two children -- a son and a daughter -- and lived in a house on Sonda road.

The body was sent for post-mortem examination, and police launched an investigation into the matter. No one has been arrested so far, said Superintendent of Police (Rural) R.K. Pandey. The motive has also not been ascertained yet.
