A sorry succession story

Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde recently cited a barely defensible logic to appoint the man of his choice as the chief of a PSU in the power sector. His argument was that the next in line should be overlooked as he had a background of finance. And, as in another PSU, a finance man had been elevated as chief and had been unable to deliver. So, the claim of the number-two should be overlooked.
