On Sunday, President Pranab Mukherjee attended a function in Kolkata to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of the country's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. It would have been a routine event had it not been for a goof-up.
The function started with "Vande Mataram" playing in the background instead of the National Anthem. The organisers - Bidhan Memorial Trust and Jawaharlal Nehru 125th Birth Anniversary Committee - later apologised for not following the convention. The National Anthem was played at the conclusion of the event.
