Letters: Taxing Kingfisher

It has been reported that the tax authorities have sent Kingfisher Airlines a fresh tax notice. An elementary lesson a public finance student learns during undergraduation is that the taxation of an entity should be based on its ability to pay tax. In the case of the cash-strapped airline, one wonders whether our tax authorities are unaware of even the basic cannons of taxation.
