My big fat holiday

Business Standard New Delhi
Despite the popular belief that holidays are a time to unplug, nine out of 10 Indian travellers admit to being attached to mobile technology on holiday, according to a recent survey by Trip Advisor. But the more interesting finding is why they choose to stay plugged in. No, it's not just work pressures. The survey reveals that Indians are the world's most likely travellers to brag on social media about their holiday. A hefty 37 per cent of Indian travellers admit to showing off on social media about their holiday - in all, 14 per cent of them admit that they do it to make their friends jealous and 23 per cent say it wouldn't be a holiday unless their friends know about it. Globally, only 19 per cent of travellers use social media channels for these two purposes combined.
