11 traffic offences reported through Goa police's FB page

Eleven cases of traffic rule violation were reported through the Goa traffic police's Facebook page during 2018-19, the state Assembly was informed on Wednesday.

The Facebook page is part of the 'Traffic Sentinel' scheme, through which a total of 1,18,108 cases have been reported as of March 13, 2019, since its launch in 2017.

The 'performance budget' of the police department for 2019-20 said Traffic Police has created a Facebook account where "public can actively participate by uploading pictures of traffic violations".

The 'performance budget', a review of the department's work in the last financial year, was tabled during the ongoing Budget session.

 

"During 2018-19, total of eleven violations were reported through Facebook," it said.

Under the scheme, people can report traffic rule violations through Goa Traffic Sentinel app. In all 7,026 people have registered themselves under the scheme.

The police took action against 7,61,665 traffic offenders during the last fiscal, the budget added.
