12-year-old girl collapses during dance performance, dies

A 12-year-old girl died after she collapsed on stage during a dance competition in suburban Kandivli in Mumbai, the police said Wednesday.

The girl, identified as Manisha Sharma, collapsed in the middle of performance Tuesday night, a Kandivli police station official said.

She was rushed to a suburban hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival, he said.

The cause of her death will be known after postmortem, the official said.

Sharma was a student of class 7.

A case of accidental death case has been registered by the police, the official added.
