14 hurt in clash between CPM and BJP cadres

At least 14 persons were injured in a clash between workers of CPM and BJP in a hamlet in the district, police said today.

The incident, which occurred last evening, was said to be the fallout of the recently-held Gram Panchayat election in which the left party reportedly lost one seat.

The two groups attacked each other with stones and sharp-edged weapons in Zari Palav pada area, police said.

Police have registered complaints and cross-complaints under various sections of IPC, but yet to make any arrest.

Talsari MLA Pascal Dhanare of BJP claimed that the attack was the handiwork of the CPM members.
