As many as 140 candidates filed their nomination papers for the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections scheduled for October 15.

According to the Maharashtra state electoral office, 140 candidates have filed their papers in different constituencies.

No major political party has announced their list of candidates so far. The last date of filing nomination papers is September 27.

Seat sharing talks between the main alliances namely Sena-BJP and Congress-NCP remain deadlocked, while the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is scheduled to announce its poll agenda on September 25 after the "pitrupaksh" (shraddh period) ends tomorrow, sources said.
