A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Nadia district, police said today.
"Prima facie, it is a case of suicide following a family dispute," the police said.
The girl, a class XI student of Anandapur High School and a resident of Panchkahonia village allegedly committed suicide after her mother scolded her for not giving enough attention to studies, they said.
She was found hanging this morning and was rushed to Haringhata Primary Health Centre, where doctors declared her brought dead, the police added.
