As many as 27 MLAs belonging to different Opposition parties in Telangana were today taken into preventive custody for allegedly holding protests outside the state Assembly building here, police said.
The protesting legislators, who belonged to Congress, TDP, BJP and Left parties, squatted on the road outside and protested against the adjournment of the Assembly, they said.
"27 MLAs were taken into preventive custody for holding protest and for disrupting traffic. They (protesting MLAs) were later let off," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) V B Kamalasan Reddy told PTI.
The Telangana Legislative Assembly was today adjourned for the day soon after it met following protests by opposition Congress and TDP members.
