3 injured as acid bottle breaks during scuffle

Three persons, including two women, were injured after an acid bottle broke during a scuffle between a couple at a hospital in North 24 Parganas district.

The incident took place when Gautam Mondal got into a scuffle with his wife at Habra Hospital, where their six-year-old son was admitted with diarrhoea, Additional Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Mukherjee said.

Mondal was carrying a bottle of muriatic acid which he had purchased from a local shop, he said, adding, during the quarrel the acid bottle broke in which his wife, and mother-in-law sustained minor burn injuries.

A hospital employee was also injured during the incident, Mukherjee said.
 

Mondal and owner of the shop from where the bottle was purchased were arrested, he said.
