: Thirty two autorickshaws reportedly carrying children beyong the permissible limits have been seized by transport Department officials in Narimedu and other areas.
An official release said Regional Transport Office officials conducted a surprise inspection on the orders of the district collector L Subramanian in these areas.
Thirty two autoricshaws were found overcrowded with school children and were seized. One was not even registered.

Besides, one private autorickshaw, a tourist autorickshaw and a car were also seized.
A school vehicle without proper permit and document was slapped with a fine of Rs 3700, the release said.
The children were dropped in the respective schools before they were seized.
Besides 22 autoricshaws were seized for plying without meters and for not collecting fare as per meter.
