Thirty-two hill mynahs were today seized and two smugglers arrested in Alipurduar district during a raid by forest officials.
The birds, netted in Rajabhatkhawa forest area of the district, were being taken to Kisanganj when the forest squad intercepted the two men at Alipurduar junction area and seized the birds, Divisional Field Director (Buxa Range) Sundariwal said.
The two were identified as Monirul Alam and Chhotu hailing from Kisanganj and Katihar, respectively.
They were believed to be part of a smuggling racket operating in the country, Sundariwal said.
