5 of a family killed as two cars collide in Telangana

Five persons of a family were today killed and three others injured after two cars collided with each other in Medak district, police said.

The mishap occurred when Koteshwar Prasad, who hailed from Andhra Pradesh, but resided at Bidar, Karnataka was going to Bidar along with his family from Hyderabad, said Subhash, Sub-Inspector of Police Hadnoor police station.

His car collided with an another car. Two persons died on the spot and three others succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment, he said.

The deceased have been identified as Koteswar Prasad (45), Santosh Reddy (38), Sita Mahalaxmi (65), Sunitha (30) and Kumar Chetan (04).
 

Prasad's daughter Yestha is admitted to government hospital in Bidar and her condition is stated to be critical. Meanwhile, two persons, who were injured have also been admitted to a local hospital, the officer said.

A case has been registered and investigations are underway, he said.
