7 yrs RI to man for kidnap& rape of minor girl

A city Mahila Court today sentenced a man to seven years rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl near Pollachi in 2012.

The prosecution case was that the 24-year-old man had abducted the ninth standard student while she was returning from school in Sethumadai and raped her in 2012.

Based on a complaint by her father, the man was arrested.

Trial in the case had been going on since February this year.

Delivering the judgement, Judge M P Subramanian convicted and sentenced the man to seven years RI.

He also slapped a fine of Rs 2,000 on him, failing which he has to undergo an additional six months' imprisonment.
