Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today told ruling BJP lawmakers and party workers from 19 districts of western Uttar Pradesh that the government at the centre and in the state are working for farmers and the poor.

Addressing them at a private institute on Delhi-Meerut road, he said the two governments are also dedicated to the welfare of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes.

Without naming any political party, he said sugarcane farmers had not received payments because of the policies of the previous state government.

He said his government has upgraded three sugar mills in Meerut, Ramala and Mohiuddinpur in western part of the state.

Adityanath said his government has waived farm loans and nearly six lakh farmers will benefit from the waiver scheme.
