Famous Gujarati actor Naresh Kanodia and his music composer brother Mahesh Kanodia will be jointly conferred on the lifetime achievement award under 'Girnar Shiromani Awards-2014' announced by the Doordarshan Kendra--Ahmedabad here today.
Besides the duo, ten dignitaries from various walks of life are selected for the 'Third Girnar Shiromani Awards-2014', including cricketer Parthiv Patel.
The awards will be distributed at a function at Tagore Hall here on August 29 in the presence of Governor O P Kohli.
"This is the third season of this award, which was constituted in 2012 to mark the completion of 25 years of DDK-Ahmedabad. Our selection committee, comprising 11 members, has selected a total of 12 persons under 10 different categories," DDK-Ahmedabad's Deputy Director General (Programming) Shivaji Fulsundar told reporters at a press conference here.
Fulsundar said that famous Gujarati singers Janardan Raval and Harshada Rawal will be conferred on 'Sangeet Shiromani', while the others include eminent persons from various categories.
While Parthiv is chosen for Khel Shiromani, social worker Dr. Shakuntala Mavlankar will get Seva Shiromani. "Others include Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith Dr.Sudarshan Ayangar (Shikshan Shiromani) and Chairman and MD of Arvind Ltd Sanjay Lalbhai (Udyog Shiromani) among others.
The telecast of the award distribution ceremony will be held on DD-Girnar channel on September 14 from 3:30 PM onwards, Fulsundar added.
