The Uttar Pradesh government today directed the police and civil administration to remain on high alert and strengthen intelligence sharing to deal with any security challenge in the festive season.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, at a high-level meeting with senior government officials including DGP Javeed Ahmad and Chief Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar, asked them to "remain on high-alert and strengthen intelligence sharing".

He also issued directions to cancel leaves of police officials and civil administration staff with immediate effect.

"Strict action will be taken against the officer concerned if any untoward incident takes place. All security agencies should work together to tackle security threats during Navratra, Durga Puja and Dusshera," he said.
