Alleged distribution of cash token cause flutter

The alleged distribution of cash tokens to the voters under the pretext of organising the party workers meeting by Congress at Andipatti caused flutter in this constituency today.

According to officials, under the pretext of holding workers meetings the Congress Candidate J M Aroon's election workers asked people in various areas to assemble at a wedding halls and collect the cash tokens.

Later they could exchange the token for cash to the tune of Rs three hundred.

Offiicials said workers meeting for distribution of tokens caused traffic jam and police had to rush to the spot to restore normalcy.

A woman told the official that she had received the token but was waiting for money to be distributed. There was also stampede as the people tried to enter the wedding hall to get tokens after the candidate left the hall.
 

Police said they were investigating the matter.
