Press Trust of India New Delhi

Aluminium prices softened by 0.40 per cent to Rs 148.45 per kg in futures trading Monday as speculators cut bets amid subdued demand at domestic spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in September eased by 60 paise, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 148.45 per kg in a business turnover of 59 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in October contracts was trading lower by a similar margin to Rs 150.10 per kg in 4 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by participants owing to slackened demand from consuming industries in the physical market weighed on aluminium prices in futures trade.
