Ashtadhatu idols stolen in UP

Four ashtadhatu idols, worth crores of rupees, were stolen from a temple in Chaurava village here, police said.

The locals passing by the temple this morning noticed the broken locks and four ashtadhatu (a combination of eight metals) idols missing from it, Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Jha said.

The priest of the temple told police that thieves might have have struck when he had gone to his agriculture field last night, he said.

The idols are worth crores of rupees in international market, Jha said.

A case has been registered, the SP added.
