The 15th Asian Canoe Polo Championship being held in India for the first time began here today with 150 athletes from six countries participating in it.
Japan, Iran, Taipei, Singapore and Malaysia, besides India are taking part in the Championship which will end on October 20.
In the Senior Men league matches, India lost to Singapore 0:40 while their women counterparts were also beaten by Iran 0:32 at the S P Mukherjee Swimming Pool Complex here.

In other Senior Men league matches, Iran beat Japan 7:6 while Taipei defeated Malaysia 10:3.
The Championship was inaugurated by Sports Authority of India Director General Jiji Thomson yesterday.
Canoe Polo -- called Kayak Polo in some countries -- is a competitive ball sport played on water, in a defined field, between two teams of five players each, in a kayak.
The object of the game is to get the ball into the opponent's goal, the team scoring the most goals in a set time being the winner.
