Asian silver-medallist Ankit Khatana advanced to the quarterfinals but three other Indian boxers lost their preliminary round bouts to bow out of the world youth championships here.

Ankit (60kg) defeated Canada's Wilcox Spencer to advance to the last-eight stage. He will square off against Denmark's Nikolai Terteryan tomorrow.

However, it was curtains for Akash (56kg), Akash (64kg) and Vijaydeep (69kg).

In the bantamweight 56kg, Akash was beaten by Filipino Criztian Laurente 0-4. The other Akash fought hard but could not edge past Ukraine's Maksym Molodan, losing 2-3 in his lightweight bout.

Vijaydeep was defeated by Hungary's Tibor Barbosu, the final score-line reading 5-0.
