Unidentified assailants opened fire at a diamond showroom here, triggering panic in the area and causing injury to one person as a glass pane fell on him.
The motorcycle-borne assailants fired four rounds at the showroom last night, damaging its glass pane which crashed over a man standing nearby, hurting him, City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Sandhya Roy said.
The injured, Ayush Soni, has been admitted to a hospital.
While the rider was wearing a helmet, the person on the pillion was masked. They fled the spot after firing at the diamond showroom, police said.
Few days ago, an unidentified caller had threatened the showroom owner Sunil Soni over phone, the official said, adding, search is on to track and nab the accused.
