Rueing Independent film makers don't usually get the chance to reach their films to the larger audiences, award winning 'Sandcastle' director Somshukla Das said she was lucky the women-centric English film got the backers.
Somshukla, who explores the intense and silent conflict of women of today in Sandcastle, had her film screened at the Femme International Festival in US besides in several categories in Tenerife Film Festival.
The film got the Best Cinematography Award at the film festival.

"Yes, unlike other film makers belonging to the Indepedendent genre, who don't get the halls, I was luckier," Somshukla said when referred to the issue of her films to be released under a prominent chain on March 14.
She said 'Sandcastle' did not deal with the issue of atrocities of women per se, but was rather a quest into her inner self, to feel the tears welled up in her eyes, her wishes and frustrations.
