Four persons, including owner of Ayurvedic and Panchakarma Centre, were booked today for alleged adulteration in medicine and violation of provisions of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), police said.

The four persons- owner of the centre Dr Revan Bhagal, Medical Officer Harshada Angre and two staffers- Meenal Golatkar and Sailesh Mistry- were booked by police on basis of a complaint filed by the Thane unit of the FDA.

Police said they were booked under relevant sections of the Drug and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, adding the Centre had manufactured tablet 'Vatkar' under its 'Adhar' brand adulterating component 'Nimocilite', without due permission from the FDA office.

As per the complaint by FDA unit, the Centre also allegedly stocked and sold the tablet in the market, thereby misleading consumers and also destroyed the stock of the 'Vatkar' tablet, police said.
