Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today approved release of Rs 140 crore for the channelization of the Swan Nadi by constructing several small check dams over it.
Total cost of the project is Rs 280 cr. While state is providing 140 cr, the remaining 50 per cent share would be contributed by the Union Government, official spokesman said here.
A decision to this effect was taken in a high level meeting chaired by Badal here, he said.
The meeting was convened to discuss the various issues related to the development of Kandi Belt comprising Hoshiarpur, Ropar and SAS Nagar (Mohali) districts, the spokesman added.
