Members of BJP women wing today held demonstrations in various parts of the state against the recent hike in power tariff in Rajasthan.

'Mahila Morcha' activists protested at New Gate in Jaipur. An effigy of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was also burnt by them.

Suman Sharma, state president of the 'Morcha', led the women and blocked a road for a brief period, police said.

"The Gehlot government's move is unjustified and it will disturb budget of people and increase financial burden," Sharma said.

The demonstrations were also held in Kota, Barmer, Ajmer, Johdpur and other districts, she said.

Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission announced a 30-paise hike in power tariff for households consuming over 500 units a month on June 6.
