Boy dies in road mishap, crowd turns violent

A 15-year old died when his motor cycle collided head-on with an oil tanker on B T Road in Baranagar area in North 24 Parganas district this afternoon.

Police said 15-year old Akash Hari died on the spot after his bike collided with the tanker triggering blockade by the locals near Tobin Road bus stop for an hour.

As the crowd refused to budge and pelted stones at the police, a bigger force went to the spot and resorted to lathicharge to disperse the protestors.

The tanker was also damaged by the mob but the driver fled.
