A Calcutta High Court advocate was today arrested for allegedly assaulting a traffic policeman after his vehicle was stopped for jumping a signal at Tegharia in Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate limits.
Advocate Avishek Dutta failed to produce documents of the vehicle, as well as his driving licence when the traffic policeman and two constables stopped his car at around noon today, a senior officer of the Commissionerate said.
"Dutta misbehaved with them and started questioning the officer's authority. It was following by a heated argument between them when the advocate slapped the officer," he said.
The traffic police officer then lodged a complaint with Baguihati Police Station, following which Dutta was arrested and booked under relevant sections.
