A one month old calf was killed by a leopard in Thalawady area in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, forest department officials said.
The carcass was recovered by the officials from Mallankuzhi Onganpuram in the area yesterday.
The officials had put up CCTVs in the area on complaints from villagers that a leopard was frequenting their area and taking away their domesticated animals. Yesterday,they scanned the footage and found the feline dragging away the calf
The officials warned the people against venturing out alone after 4 PM and also to inform them if they sighted any wild animal in the area, so that traps could be laid.
