Danseuse-actor Mamata Shanker believes in the unmistakable pull of the city where every single household has a Rabindrasangeet singer.
Inaugurating the Basantika utsav, transplanting a slice of red-earth topped Bolpur to the brick and mortar city, Mrinal Sen's favourite actor said, "With the little children attired in saffron, you can sense the vibe which is unique of Bengal and Kolkata."
Echoing Mamata Shankar, director Sudeshna Roy sai, "There is an addiction to Kolkata, which grows on you the more you live here and frequent the alleys and culture zones."

As gulal was liberally sprayed, and girls attired in saffron robes danced to the tune of the 'Basantotsab' anthem 'Ore Grihobasi', singers Srikanta Acharya, Srabani Sen, Surojit Chatterjee, Manoj Murli Nair, called for celebrating spiring on the eve of 'Doljatra' from next year.
'Basantika' will be taken to the foreign shores from next year, Amitabha Samanta, from the organisers Sabujpatro - India Greens, said.
