Car rams into stationary truck; 1 dead, 3 injured

One person died while three others injured when a car, in which they were travelling, rammed into a stationary truck in south Delhi's Adchini area, police said today.

The incident happened last night around 11.30 PM at the Adchini red light when the driver of the overspeeding car failed to apply brakes and rammed the vehicle into the rear portion of the stationary truck, a police officer said, adding the front portion of the car was badly damaged.

Harbhajan, an IT professional, who was driving the vehicle died in the accident while two injured have been identified as Shubham Dua and Aditya Ranjan, both brothers and employed in merchant navy. The third injured person is also an IT professional and has been identified as Sumit Rana, he said.
 

Blood samples of the occupants of the car have been collected and will be tested to determine whether they were drunk at the time of the accident, a senior police officer said.

The truck driver fled from the spot and police is looking for him, said the officer.

The injured are undergoing treatment at the AIIMS Trauma Centre and Rockland Hospital, police said.
