A case was today registered against the chief of a private television channel for making alleged derogatory comments on the Hindu epic Ramayana, police said.
The complainant Bethi Mahender Reddy, alleged that Sri Ramanananda Maharshi, owner of 'Shiva Shakti Sai' channel had 'insulted' the epic Ramayana and 'promoted enmity' between various sections of Hindus, in an interview to a Telugu news channel last month, they said.
Based on the private complaint, a Judicial Magistrate here took cognizance of the offence and ordered registration of a case against Maharishi under various sections of IPC.
