The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a clerk and a peon working in the state government's Integrated Tribal Development Project for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a person supplying meals and provisions to a tribal students hostel.

ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Muley said that clerk Vyankat Holkar (37) and peon Shankar Ingale (27), working in the ITDP's Pusad office here, had, on January 31, asked for a bribe of Rs 45,000 from the complainant to clear a bill of Rs 1.35 lakh.

"A trap was laid in the office premises at Pusad yesterday and the two were caught while accepting Rs 45,000 from the complainant as part of the trap," Muley informed.

He said that a case had been registered and further investigations were underway.
