Cold conditions prevail in Haryana, Punjab

Cold weather conditions prevailed today in Haryana and Punjab with temperatures hovering below normal levels at most places.

In Punjab, Amritsar was the coldest place recording a minimum temperature of 2.5 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal followed by Ludhiana - 5.9 deg C and Patiala - 8.4 deg C.

Narnaul in Haryana continued to reel under intense cold recording a minimum temperature of 4 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal level.

Among other parts in the state, Hisar recorded the lowest of 6.1 deg C, which was two notches below normal level, a Met department report said.

Karnal, too, remained in the grip of cold conditions at 7 degrees Celsius minimum. Ambala's low settled at 7.9 deg C.
 

The minimum temperature at Chandigarh settled at 7.4 deg C. However, the residents of the Union Territory woke up to a sunny morning today.

During the past few days, the maximum temperatures, too, have registered a downward trend at most places in Haryana and Punjab, settling in the range of 16-20 degrees Celsius.
