Cold winds sweep Raj, minimum temperatures drop

Cold winds due to a fresh western disturbance today led to a drop in minimum temperatures in Rajasthan.
Churu recorded the lowest minimum at 4.2 degrees Celsius to become the coldest place in the state, a MeT official said today.
"Mercury fell by one to three degrees Celsius in parts of western and northeastern Rajasthan owing to a fresh western disturbance and cold winds," the official said.

Pilani had a low of 5.7 degrees Celsius, followed by Sikar 7.2, Mount Abu 8.6, Bikaner 8.5 and Sriganganagar 6.8 degrees Celsius. Elsewhere, the minimum temperature varied between 9 and 15.7 degrees Celsius.
The MeT office has predicted light rains or squall in parts of northeastern Rajasthan in the next 24 hours.
