Collector extends school holiday by a day due to heat wave

East Godavari district Collector Neetu Prasad extended the holiday to schools today by one more day (Monday) due to heat wave conditions in the district.

"Holidays to schools in the district has been extended one more day i.E. Tomorrow (June 16), keeping in view severe heat wave conditions prevailing in the district. Schools will reopen on Tuesday (June 17). The holiday will be compensated later," she said in a statement released here today.

The collector had said in her statement yesterday that the heat wave has claimed 31 lives in the district and warned the people to take all precautions.
 

Meanwhile, in a statement released today the meterological department that heat wave conditions would prevail in the districts of Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari, Krishna, besides Telangana state's Warangal district.
