Press Trust of India Hyderabad
People would get SMS alerts after lodging complaints in police stations in Telangana, and also receive a copy of the First Information Report by email.

The SMS alert will serve as an acknowledgement with a 'petition ID', which can be used to track status of the probe through the Telangana police's website, www.Tspolice.Gov.In.

These facilities are part of the 'Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems' (CCTNS) project.

After a successful pilot run of the project, it was given 'Go Live' by the state IT Minister K T Rama Rao here today. It would be operational throughout the state now.

Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy launched some other services under CCTNS including the one where status of missing-person complaints can be accessed through the police website.

For putting CCTNS in place, every police station in the state has been provided with computer systems, UPS, digital cameras and 'electronic pens' with a dedicated network connectivity.
