Congress MLAs today staged a walk-out in the Gujarat Assembly demanding tabling of the report of Justice M B Shah Commission, set up in 2011 to probe allegations of corruption against the the state government then headed by Narendra Modi.
This is the second time Congress has staged a walk-out on the issue in the ongoing Budget session.
After the Question Hour, 50-odd Congress MLAs started shouting slogans demanding tabling of the report, and accused the government of concealing the facts from the people.
They even showed placards stating the demand. Even after repeated requests and warnings from the Speaker Ganpat Vasava, Congress MLAs gathered in the well and continued the protest.
After the Speaker's last warning, the Congress legislators staged a walk-out, but returned after 15 minutes to take part in the discussion on budgetary allocations.
The commission was set up in 2011, when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister, to probe 17 charges of corruption levelled by Congress against his government.
Congress had questioned several land allotments and alleged that the BJP Government favoured certain industrial houses. It had also alleged corruption in the 'Sujlam Suflam Yojana', a water supply scheme.
The commission submitted its first report to the government in September 2012, while the final report was filed at the end of 2013.
On March 9, Congress MLAs had staged a walk-out on the same issue.
